MindManager API
Advance a project (subproject, task) To start working on a project, organize it into tasks and subtasks until you have a single-step task to complete. (For example, make a call, print the report, etc.). The Advance command indicates that you must split a project into simple steps/tasks.
Cascaded Filter You can apply a sequence of filters to data. For example, the cascaded filter, This week - End – Coleman, will first filter out tasks for this week, then filter tasks that will end this week, and then filter tasks assigned to Coleman.
Central Map A Central Map that consists of topics that link to other maps. For example, the Central Map for a large project has topics with links to all the maps and documents associated with this project. MultiMaps can process the Central Map, following the links to all maps and collecting data from those maps.
Data Collection Configuration Map A map that contains keywords to define and filter data when MultiMaps collects data from maps. This map has topics with a keyword and notes containing programming commands that define what this keyword does.
Data Collection Template A set of topics with collection criteria defining how MultiMaps captures and organizes the data it collects. It may be a separate map, map fragment, or map branch.
Data Collection Keywords Words or phrases defined in the Data Collection Configuration Map. You use these definitions in a Data Collection Template with topics (or topics with notes). These topics act as a filter and a placeholder under which MultiMaps gathers the search results.
Deadline The date when a user must complete a task. Tasks with deadlines always have a Due date and contain the Deadline icon (an exclamation mark).
Filter The data collection criterion. In MultiMaps, there are keywords defined in the Data Collection Configuration Map. For example, the keyword Today will filter only today’s active tasks.
In-Tray The branch inside a Project to collect and store incoming information/tasks for the Project until the information is processed. These could be tasks, thoughts, ideas, phone calls, etc.
Inheritance The ability to transfer specific attributes from the parent topic/task to a child topic/task. For example, the user sets the person responsible for a project or task (the resource) onto a Central Topic/Project. This person has oversight of all child topics/tasks. A worker set as a Resource on the subtopics/tasks, overrides the parent resource person on the topic above it, and is responsible for doing subtopic/task. However, the connected parent resource can be assumed to be the overall manager for this project and the associated subtopics/tasks. The subtopics/tasks inherit the person with overall responsibility from the topic above. See details here.
Overdue Defines tasks that a user has not completed within a specified time. You can use this criterion to capture tasks, projects, actions etc., where their due date is earlier than Today, and their Progress icon is set to less than 100%.
Project A Project is a set of tasks that a user needs to complete to reach a goal. A Project is a topic with a Project icon assigned to it. You may collect Project topics and review summary data, including progress, a list of people assigned to work on it, etc.
Resource A resource is usually a person who is responsible for the Task. (an employee, a manager, etc.). In MindManager, a user can't set a role for the resource. However, you can use the resource’s inheritance to create a pseudo-relationship between topics and subtopics to represent authority and roles for tasks in projects and collection maps.
Resource role See above (Resource). Since version 7 of MultiMaps, assigning roles to Resources and collecting data based on these roles is possible. Read more here.
Subproject In MultiMaps, a subproject is a task that consists of more than one action. It is a topic with the Subproject icon assigned to it. MultMaps does not collect subprojects by default, even with dates and a Progress icon set. You may explicitly force the Data Collection Engine to collect them using the subproject icon. MultiMaps also use Subprojects in the resource inheritance process.
Tag A text marker set to a topic allows the Data Collection Engine to filter topics using this MARKER. For example, setting the tag Call to topics enables the Data to Collection Engine to collect all Calls from a set of maps.
Task A topic with either a Progress icon and/or Start/Due date set without a Project or Subproject icon.
Express template A topic with keywords/criteria or a branch that has topics with keywords/criteria to collect data. The branch can be stored in the data collection configuration map as an express template and then easily added to the map with the Express Templates button on the MultiMaps ribbon.
