Calendar topic - Google Calenar event or Google Task added to a MindManager map as topic.
Calendar Topic Rules add functionality that triggers an action on a calendar topic when the attributes of this calendar topic meet certain conditions. This functionality helps the user quickly identify events and tasks with specific attributes.
For example: if the event is from the Birthdays Calendar, then Calendar Manager adds a cake icon to the calendar topic making it easy to see that it is a birthday event.
This functionality is very similar to the MindManager Smart Rules feature, but there are two significant distinctions:
You can have multiple Calander Topic Rules that Calendar Manager applies based on the priority, which you can modify. The rule position in the Rules dialog window defines its priority and controls how the Calendar Manager applies it. The rule in the higher position has a higher priority. For example, if rule 1 and rule 2 apply different Progress values to a topic, the Calendar Manager uses the rule with the higher position.
Calendar Topic Rules do not conflict with MindManager Smart Rules as MindManager Smart Rules always take precedence. So, you can combine Calendar Topic Rules with MindManager Smart Rules.
In the Calendar Manager button drop-down menu on the Ribbon, select Calendar Topic Rules.
On the opened window, click the Add New Rule button.
Type a name for the rule in the Rule Title field.
--- Triggers ---
Open the Triggers drop-down, and choose one of the following:
Event repeats - select True to apply the effect(s) to a repeating event or False to a non-repeating.
Event guests - to apply the effect(s) to an event with a specified number of guests (attendees). If you want to apply the effect(s) to an event without guests, choose Is Less Than or Equal and set 0 in the following box.
Contains text - to apply the effect(s) to an event or Google task, containing specified text in its Title or Description or Location. You can use text search rules. Thus, you can create a Contains text trigger like: "urgent OR important OR vital", that triggers when the event or task contains any of these words.
Event's Calendar - to apply the effect(s) to an event from a specific Calendar. For example, if the event is from the Birthdays calendar, Calendar Manager sets the Cake icon on the topic.
Task Is in the Task list - to apply the effect(s) to a Google Task from a specific task list. For example, if the task is from the Urgent task list, Calendar Manager sets the Priority 1 icon.
----------------------
A Rule can have multiple triggers. Click Add New Trigger and set the trigger criteria to add another trigger. You can choose to apply the smart-rule formatting when the criteria of any trigger or all triggers are met.
--- Effects ---
Open the Effects dropdown, and choose any of the following effects:
Icon - choose an icon to apply to a calendar topic that matches the specified trigger criteria. Then specify the icon name* to represent this icon in the Map Markers set (Index task pane).
Priority - select a Priority to apply to a calendar topic that matches the specified trigger criteria.
Progress - select the task Progress to apply to a calendar topic that matches specified trigger criteria.
Example: create a separate calendar for your tasks. Apply the Event's Calendar trigger for this calendar. Set the Icon effect for this trigger and select the desired Progress icon, and all events from this calendar will be marked as tasks.
* You can omit the name of the icon. For example, if you use an often used icon in the Rule effects (e.g., the Question icon from the Single Icons group), Calendar Manager will take the icon name from its map markers group.
