You can leverage more complex collections by combining criteria that allow the user to define their collection needs specifically.
There are different cases.
There can be a keyword on the topic (one criterion), an icon on the topic (second criterion), and an assigned resource (third criterion). Thus, one topic collects data defined by all three criteria.
This topic will collect all tasks with Priority 1, with active dates for this week, and only those tasks that are assigned to Smith.
Furthermore, you can add criteria or refining in the topic notes using the macro language!
Here is a collection criterion added on the topic in a cascading arrangement. There is a topic with text defining the first criterion, a subtopic with text defining the second criterion, and another with text defining the third criterion:
This construction resembles a funnel with the defined search criteria on the topics flowing through this funnel from left to right
The Data Collection Engine will go through all the sources that you've specified. First it will filter out active tasks for this week and include tasks with allocated resources. Finally, it will capture tasks with Completed icon . The filtered tasks appear under the Completed topic.
This will result in a list of tasks completed in this week, sorted by resources (people).
In this example, you need to collect all the tasks that Smith completed in the previous week.
You can create a combination filter with the keywords Last week, Completed and the resource Smith:
Then select the topic Last week and click Collect data.
You can invent your own combinations.
You can create more complex collection templates. For example:
Try to guess what will be collected when you select topic Collect and click on Collect Data:)
Now, these are not just criteria but a data collection template.
There are two easy ways to save such a templates and reuse them.
